Nursery (infant through 2 year olds)

nurserygraphicDoes your nursery-aged child like to pretend to be a butterfly,  play with play-dough, listen to guitar playing, jump down steps,  go down a slide, look for treasures, make musical shakers, or go outside?  Whether your child enjoys playing alone or playing with other toddlers, we strive to make the youngest attendees of the UUAA feel happy, loved and secure.  Please stop by the Nursery and see what we are up to on Sunday mornings.

 

Preschool (3 and 4 year olds)

You found the egg!We Are Many, We Are One:   Based on the philosophy that young children learn about religion through relationships, this program encourages children to use their minds, bodies, and emotions to develop their sense of identity and self-esteem within the Unitarian Universalist community and the world..

 

 

 

Kindergarten/First Grade

4 5graphicWorld of Wonder & Soul Matters:  The World of Wonder curriculum delves deep into the Unitarian Universalist Seventh Principle of respecting and caring for nature. It is founded on the premise that direct experience in nature is essential to children's physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual development. Soul Matters will offer lessons based on the monthly worship themes.

 

Second Grade/Third Grade

girlblowingbubblesFaithful Journeys & Passport to Spirituality: In Faithful Journeys, children learn about historic or contemporary examples of Unitarian Universalist faith in action. Children will also have regular opportunities to share and affirm their own stories of faithful action. Over the course of the program, children discover a unity of faith in the many different ways Unitarian Universalists, including themselves, can act on our beliefs. In Passport to Spirituality, children will learn about and experiences spiritual practices from around the world.

 

 

Fourth Grade/Fifth Grade

Bibleodeon: In this beloved class, children don’t just read but also experience stories of the Hebrew and Christian scriptures using games, skits and more! They learn how to engage the Hebrew and Christian traditions as Unitarian Universalists, and they gain a greater religious/cultural literacy.

 

 

Elementary Our Whole Lives (OWL)

Unfortunately, we have no more space left in the elementary OWL program. Please check back during the Summer 2020 to see if there is a spot next year.

Elementary OWL: Children in kindergarten through third grade are welcome to register for elementary OWL, a positive, comprehensive, and age appropriate sexual health education program. Elementary OWL aims to:

  • strengthen and support each child's sense of self and self-esteem.
  • help children understand the place of sexuality in human life and loving.
  • help children recognize and appreciate their bodies as good and beautiful, private and special.
  • help children gain understanding and accurate information about human sexuality, reproduction, and gender identification.
  • help children prepare for the normal changes they will experience as they grow and develop.
  • help children develop interpersonal skills that will keep them safe and healthy.
  • help children learn to make decisions that respect themselves and others and that anticipate possible consequences.
  • engage families with the Our Whole Lives program in open communication about all life questions.

Elementary OWL is offered at 9:30am. Pre-registration is required. Class size will be capped at 15 people.
