Many Topics, Many Voices

Our book collection aims to provide background about Unitarian Universalism.  It also serves as a starting point to learn about many diverse faiths, topics and ideas that are part of the rich tapestry of UU thinking.  We have books for both adults and children.

Borrowing and Returning Books

The public is free to check out books from the library.  Here's how to borrow a book:

  • Find the book checkout slips on the computer desk in the library.
  • Fill out a slip for each book and place in the wooden box on the desk.
  • When you bring back your items, put them in the return box found under or near the desk.

Please try to limit how long you keep an item to a month.  We do not enforce return times, so anyone who uses the library is on their own honor to be a responsible patron.

Magazine Sharing

We have a magazine sharing rack where you can feel free to take (and keep) magazines or to donate magazine that you think others would find interesting.  Reuse / recycle!

Donations

We are very happy to accept donations.  You'll find a donation box near the computer desk in the library.  We review all the donations we receive and use our collection policy as our guideline for what we add to the collection.  Please check the library bulletin board or email us if you need a copy of our policy or have questions.  Items that we don't add to the collection are most often passed to the Prison Ministry book donation.

UUAA Library Committee

The Library Committee is responsible for developing and organizing the collection.  We also work to promote it, build our online catalog, and to work with other groups at UUAA who wish to partner with the library to distribute information resources. For more about us, see a description of our committee here.

Stella Anderson, Acting SGD DirectorStella Anderson, Acting Director of Spiritual Growth and Development

Welcome to UUAA's 2021-22 program year from our Acting Directory of Spiritual Growth and Development, Stella Anderson.

Our Youth Spiritual Growth and Development (SGD) program empowers youth to explore spiritual beliefs and practices from a Unitarian Universalist perspective. SGD is our version of "Sunday School", or "Religious Education".

We know this has been a year of loss for everyone, including our loss of connection with community. As we work toward a safe reopening of our programs in September, the SGD Program would like to learn more about your family’s plans and/or preferences for return to in-person classes so that we can provide the best possible experience for all participating youth.

The Spiritual Growth & Development (SGD) Program is excited to welcome back children and youth for 2021/2022! Registration for classes is now open. Please fill out the following google form as soon as possible.

SGD Registration 2021/2022

Classes meet on Sundays from September through May. The first part of the SGD session will take place primarily outdoors and will include both large group and small group learning activities. Class placements will depend on enrollment and volunteer recruitment.

The UUAA will continue to follow CDC recommendations for masking and social distancing. Even if you are not planning to enroll in SGD, your responses will help us plan for the future. For the purposes of this survey, please answer based on the assumption that vaccines for children under age 12 will not be available for the foreseeable future and that ALL PARTICIPANTS IN SGD PROGRAMMING WILL BE REQUIRED TO WEAR MASKS INDOORS, REGARDLESS OF VACCINE STATUS, UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.

...  During our virtual times, we kept connecting in new and creative ways.

What does the UUAA kids program look like when we can meet in person?

In non-pandemic times, from September through May, classes are offered during both (in-person services) to give students a place to learn and grow.

Each grade follows a curriculum that is specific to the student’s life stage. At the 9:30 service, we offer classes for preschool through 3rd grade. At the 11:30 service, we offer classes for preschool through 12th grade. At both services, we have a nursery to look after children younger than preschool age.
